The dream starts in darkness, cold and quiet. The muffled sound of something like the swing of a sword cuts through the silence, and someone screaming. Laughter, unsettling gleeful laughter.

It gets warm, a fire in color, appearing and spreading. The screams of people get louder. There are flashes of grayed out people laying on the ground, faces obscured like a staticky television. The laughter still echoes, getting louder. Then a voice speaks up. It sounded like Kazuma, and yet not. There was an edge to it, deeper and wild.

You can't run. You can't hide.

A flash, a clawed hand rising up to strike at something, or someone. The people laying on the ground now visibly show claw wounds. The blood is in color, red.

My time may be up, but I've always been a part of you. Never forget that.

The laying people flash before him again, but now they're in color, their faces no longer obscured as they flash by with the same shocked expressions.

The dream will abruptly end soon after, left with a feeling that someone just broke the surface of water.

[Unbeknownst to Kazuma, he isn't aware about his nightmare having been recorded, currently more rattled by it as he wakes from sleep in a cold sweat.]

[ So Nier hasn't entirely grasped the situation he's in yet and he's always learning something new. He sits there watching a nightmare and it looks very unnerving from afar. Maybe it's not his place to comment on it or speak his opinions but he feels concern. Kazuma has just experienced a bad dream.]

...Are you okay?

[ It's a simple question that almost anyone might ask after seeing something like that. ]

That was quite a nightmare. Are you all right?

[There is no immediate response, because it hasn't register to him that dreams can be recorded without the person's discretion. Eventually he will notice his journal is present and open to a new entry. It cannot be seen, but he is frowning deeply at the question being asked.]

Is there a reason why I wouldn't be? [He knows the answer, he just doesn't want to get into, all that.]

Fine.

I'm more unnerved that it was shared. [Dumb tapirs.]

That nightmare I just saw was yours, wasn't it?

[ Nier's just trying to confirm some facts because this is the first time he's seen someone's nightmare out in the open like that. ]

I'm a little worried about you, but if you don't want to talk about it that's okay.

[...] Yes, it was.

So this place willingly broadcast dreams with or without our permission then. How troublesome. [He's much more angry then the text is conveying right now.]

[That nightmare... it was definitely something. Roxas doesn't fully understand what happened, but seeing his own face in the dream was quite frightening. So, after a moment, Roxas will reach out.]

Kazuma..?

[He glances at the name messaging him.

...Well, he suppose it was inevitable.] I'm sorry you had to see that.

Wait, this... Is some kind of nightmare? Have we met?

[. . .]

We did, in another world.

[ ...That was. Not a nightmare he wanted to see.

He'd known about Naomi. She'd told him when he'd come to check on her after her Book scene, and found the bruises on her chest. But Roxas and Ren? Was Shizuo due to how the book ended...?

And even saying he 'knew' about Naomi didn't make that any easier. His mind flashed back to how, on that foggy day, he'd rushed to the scene and saw Chisa--

He shook his head. Taking a deep breath, Dojima opened his journal up, sent the kid a private message. ]

Kazuma, you up?

[The messages keep coming, understandably so, but...now he's gotten the detective on him.]

Yes. [He's not getting any sleep for awhile after that.]

( theres a lot to unpack here.
but at least he’s become familiar with the concept.. )

A rough one, looks like. What’s your name?

I apologize that you had to see that. [He's not sure if it's better or not that Ren doesn't seem to remember.]

[ Probably wouldn't be able to sleep after something like that... ]

Can we talk?

I suppose. You would have hound me later if I said no regardless.

It's very troublesome. Do you think it can just happen to anyone? Even me?

[ He wonders if his nightmares would show up for everyone to see. It's a scary thought. ]

It'd be nice if we could have some say in what happens but it looks like we don't.

Yes, it is a rather unsettling that something so private could be recorded for others to view.

( honestly, it wasn't the first time someone had murder on the mind when it came to him, but— an apology seemed to insinuate the circumstances probably weren't too cut-and-dry...

not to mention the ominous words that resonated throughout this nighrmarish scene. )

Were we friends?

Unless you can't dream, I doubt this place will discriminate.

Perhaps if this world wasn't in the state it's in, we might be able to dictate what's shared. [In his case, he likes none of them to be shared.]

And I have a feeling there's no way to prevent it from occurring.

Let this be a warning, I suppose.

I didn't know you well enough, but we were comrades working toward the same goal.

What happened was...a failure on my part.

I mean, I have dreams and nightmares just like anyone else... I'd prefer to keep them to myself if anything.

[ He understands wanting to have some privacy and control over who gets to see your own dreams. ]

[Courteous, and a name he isn't familiar with.]

Kazuma Asogi. If possible, I would ask if you can forget what you saw.

[ He's still not used this strange world and he's been slowly adjusting to everything, but he nods.]

It's nice to meet you and I just wish we could have spoken under better circumstances. Will you be okay?

[ niers fine just forgetting everything so he's not going to ask again after this. ]
