Hello everyone! My name is Iris Wilson, and I thought it'd be quickest to introduce myself over these interesting journals. Wouldn't it be faster if we could use typewriters instead of pens, though? Has anyone tested that?
Anyway, I trust you're familiar with Mr Naruhodo? Or Miss Mikotoba and Inspector Lestrade? They are some of my dearest friends and family, so I wanted to thank you all for being here to support them! Oh, and Mr Asogi and Mr Reaper, too!
In addition, I understand that Herlock Sholmes was here prior to me? Honestly, he's normally so difficult to wake, too. But I also wanted to say that I hope you had a lovely time with him and that,
[There's the briefest pause.]
well, I apologise if there was any trouble.
I believe that's all I have to say for now. We really must have tea sometime! I'll be staying with Runo if you'd like to find me.

He was a good friend of mine and he taught me how to play the violin when we first met in a music studio opening. And we even got to play music together in a spring recital concert as well.

I hope your arrival here has not caused too much turmoil for you, I know it can be a bit jarring for some people. If you ever have need of something, please, don't hesitate to ask. Whether it is help with something or if there is some material you might be in need of, I am more than happy to lend my assistance. I do a fair bit of hunting and forraging and do not mind sharing my bounty with others.

A typewriter is a machine that allows you write on paper without using a pen. And it's much quicker! You just place in a sheet, then press keys assigned for each letter and it's put to paper just like that! If you spend enough time using the keys, you can have an entire sentence completed in seconds!
Thank you! In London you just have to go to the shops to purchase anything you need. I can cook and I grow my own plants and herbs, but come to think of it I don't know much about getting food before those steps.
no subject
That does sound like it would be useful, I wonder if there are any to be found here? I would like to see one, to see how it's put together.
There are shops in the city, I think, but I'm unsure how varied their produce is since I prefer to fend for myself when I can. And if anyone else is in need of wild game, leathers or what I find while I forage I see no reason why I should not share it.

It's nice to meet you. I'm familiar with... Naruhodo? If his first name is Ryunosuke, anyway. Not too familiar, but I've definitely messaged him over these journals before, and met him in person when I first arrived.
[Messaged? More like harassed.]
I hope you enjoy your time here.

Yes, that's Runo! I'm glad to hear he's been making more friends.
[Hey, she approves, go for it.]
Thank you!

I was more talking about a computer and keyboard moreso than a typewriter. I guess I should just be thankful at this point that my handwriting isn't that messy.
I think "acquaintances" is more appropriate than "friends". We haven't talked too much.

Why's that? Do you not have much experience with it?

well, I hope so anyway and I’m meeting you in any case!
I’m kind of bad at reading and writing. I taught myself to read and still not perfect or anything.

[he's still definitely not jealous of everybody who gets so many of their friends from home to show up. nope]
I guess whether a typewriter would work would depend on the method... like if you tear pages out of it and put them in to type, would it still show up in everyone else's journal? Or would you have to do something like magically make a typewriter instead of a quill? Either could be worth trying, I guess.
[He doesn't mind writing, personally, so he might be too lazy...]
no subject
Yes, that's something that needs serious consideration. I suppose it depends on how exactly these work in the first place. As for the paper, maybe there's a way to typewriter move on the page as opposed to its usual method that focuses on the paper moving?
no subject
[Still, they're mechanically interesting, he thinks.]
Maybe you'd just attach the stamping parts to some kind of plate that moves the way the paper normally does? But then the keys would have to move too, unless you had some other way to connect them to the stamps. [HMM.]
I'm guessing you met them through their trip to England, right? [Just from the name...]

Iris-san,
Hello! I'm Hiyori. I like your name! It's pretty. [ there is a doodle of a flower drawn here. ]
Typewriters may be faster, but I enjoy writing in journals. There's something more personal and charming about hand-written things, isn't there?
I can't say I'm familiar with those people, so I probably don't deserve your gratitude, but I'm happy that you have friends and family here in Reverein. New places are less lonely and more exciting when you can share them with people you care about, I think.
Herlock Sholmes? Did you mean Sherlock Holmes? He's a great detective, isn't he? Or something like that. What kind of trouble would he cause? I don't know much about him.
- Hiyori [ another simple doodle of a little bird is added to the end here. ]
no subject
Ah, that's true! These are like a way to write letters to everyone at once. I guess it is actually simpler in that regard.
I'm very happy about it! I thought it would be much longer until I was able to see some of them again. I hope you've been able to enjoy it here, as well, Hiyo.
No no, it's Herlock Sholmes! That's quite a funny sounding name you wrote. You're correct that he's a great detective, though. I've been writing stories about his adventures for a while now! Hurley has a habit of being very forgetful, and sometimes he experiments with things before they're ready. He's caused several explosions in our flat and some people take offense to things like that.
no subject
And!! You wouldn't be able to do this with a typewriter! [ draws ANOTHER SKETCH. of some little puffball thing? ]
Yes, I think so. I've been able to enjoy it for the most part. There are some people I miss from home, but I feel fortunate that everyone here has been so kind and there is one person here that I know well. I guess he's sort of like family to me, too.
[ ... is she wrong? is it herlock sholmes and not the other way around? huh. continues reading lalala ]
You write! Now I see why you'd might like a typewriter! If you're an author, you'd probably get tired from handwriting everything. There might be one somewhere in Reverein?

I think a typewriter to make is not a problem, but the problem you have then is getting it to work in conjunction with the journal, which is why it hasn't been done. Considering how our messages are transmitted and that's probably some type of magic, you'd have to know how it works exactly to make a typewriter that does exactly what you want.
Unfortunately I only know the mechanical part, the magic is a bit beyond me.
no subject
I'd love to hear any tips you have for constructing one or if you know where the parts might be available!
no subject
You could do something akin to a printing press, but you run into the problem that it takes a long time, compared to just writing in it.
